Lentereiland is historical ground, the Romans lived here and the area at the Waal bridge made history during the Second World War. Lent is also part of nature, with a long river beach in development. The City of Nijmegen asked for communication support and area promotion. In order to inform the inhabitants about the unique character of Lent and its environment 2D3D and Dieben en Partners Communication developed the Lent Island area identity, the Lent box and the Lentmarks.
The Lent style is a consistent visual family transparently applied to landscape furniture (Lentmarks), information panels, books and the area map. The design language consists of an open-ended format, e.g. from 'Lent island', 'Lent life', 'Lent birds', 'Lent beach' through to 'Lent love'. The old and new stories of the Lent people come alive in the Lent books, the Lent map, park benches, outlook hut and the information panels alongside the Waal. The Lent map with walking and cycling routes shows the places of interest in reference to the stories in the Lent books.
For this project 2D3D won a Red Dot Design Award 2011 for communication design in the category Public Space.
